About CIC Midwest

Welcome from our CIC Midwest Planning Committee Chair

Traci Lehman, Cities Management

It seems like just yesterday when I attended my first CIC Midwest Planning Committee Meeting in 2001. At that time, I was a brand new association manager with Cities Management and very anxious to gain knowledge and become an active volunteer in the industry. I was struck by the energy that pervaded that initial committee meeting, and the welcoming attitudes that convinced me this was a group I was going to enjoy being a part of for a long time. I was not mistaken. My association with MHA and CIC Midwest has enriched me in professional and personal ways too numerous to mention in this missive.

For those of you who are unaware of the depth and breadth of CIC Midwest’s reach, allow me to enlighten you. CIC Midwest is a unique organization that has brought together developers, accountants, insurance agents, attorneys, service providers, management companies, board members and homeowners to promote greater knowledge of the CIC industry for all.

But what does the future hold for CIC Midwest? Continued growth? A larger membership? More education? The future holds all of this and much more…. But before we look forward I must look back and express my deep gratitude to our past committee chair, Toni Crockett, New Concepts Management.  Her immensely hard work and strong leadership has laid a great foundation for the goals and aspirations we have for upcoming years.

I would also like to thank all of our sponsors and Planning Committee members. The Purpose of the CIC Midwest Planning Committee is: “To help CIC members achieve the industry standard of excellence in professional CIC management through education; and to provide the tools needed to succeed in daily CIC management including information, resources and networking.”

The committee is a team of volunteers who are strongly committed to putting our purpose into practice, and to encouraging professional development in our industry. Their dedication is one of the reasons that we are continuing to increase our membership, and break attendance records at our popular Lunch & Learn meetings.

To recognize professionalism in our industry, we have the Outstanding CIC Property Manager category in the annual MADACS Awards. This award honors exceptional managers in common interest communities. Congratulations to Stacy Ekholm, CommonBond Communities for winning this award in 2007!

The Planning Committee and I are entering the 2008 with invigorated energy and the determination to continue exploring new ideas and opportunities to strengthen our profession, to inspire our members, and to educate the general public about who we are and what we do.

I want to thank you for your membership. If there is anything that could make your membership better, please feel free to contact me to share your suggestions and ideas. We look forward to your contribution in helping to fulfill our important missions and responsibilities.

Very best wishes to you all!
